New Student orientation:

Revisions are ongoing until June 8th, 2020.

Your time during orientation will allow you to gain familiarity with the UT culture, begin putting your goals into action, and meet people from all walks of life leading to life long friendships.

The Math Readiness Package is required, regardless of possible transfer credits.

This requirement is due by June 1st, 2020. Please refer to your welcome email from CNS College Readiness for specific details.

Orientation materials will be sent to you via email from New Student Services (NSS).

You can expect your email about a week in advance of your orientation session.  Your mandatory advising appointment details for orientation will be sent to you via email a few days before your session.

Please login five minutes before your scheduled time.

Academic Advising:

Each student is appointed an academic advisor who will be reaching out to you by September 15th.  Please feel free to direct any questions that you have to: cnsinfo@austin.utexas.edu.

We also recommend students wait until meeting with their advisor this summer to take the ALEKS chemistry assessment as refunds are not an option for the ALEKs preparation package.

Zoom etiquette:

1. Be sure to mute your mic whenever you are not speaking.

2. Consider muting your video if you are completing a non-Zoom related task.

3. Close unneeded applications on your computer to keep the video optimally functioning.

4. You might want to use a headset with an external mic for best hearing and speaking capabilities.

5. When you are speaking, let others know that you are finished.

6. If you want to speak, use the “raise hand” feature that is available at the bottom center of your screen.
7. You can ask questions using the “Chat” feature on the bottom and center of your screen.
8. Be mindful of your background lighting.
9. Be sure that there is nothing visually distracting.
10. Remember to sign out or “leave the meeting” when the session is finished.
