About the College

We believe in small-community experiences and unmatched opportunities at scale. UT Austin’s largest college is also one of the biggest science schools in the nation. We are home to 15 programs for undergraduate and graduate students ranked in the top 10 nationally.

Unique to Texas Science

Driving Impact

Join a community where research meets teaching—and innovation is everywhere. Leaders behind some of the most talked-about discoveries of a generation are here, as is the world’s most powerful university supercomputer, the biggest undergraduate research program and stand-out academics.

Leadership

A Longhorn at Heart

Dean David Vanden Bout is a native Austin resident, a distinguished teacher, an accomplished chemist and a nationally recognized Inclusive Leadership Award winner. He’s an alum who bleeds burnt orange—and sports a mean bowtie. Together with students, staff and faculty, he is advancing a goal of making UT Austin the highest-impact public research university for science in the world.

The Forty Acres and More

Austin and Beyond

Just as Austin is a city with something for everyone, so is the college. Texas Science has a presence across more than a dozen buildings on the main campus and hosts a network of living laboratories around the state. Our unique offerings include our observatory and museum. We proudly work and learn in the spaces where Nobel-Prize winning research happened, where game-changing new approaches to education came to be and where countless people and ideas got their start to change the world.
