Giorgio Paulon and Abhra Sarkar researched how nonnative English speakers learned another language's tonal differences.

Statisticians from UT Austin developed a new way to model how the brain learns language over time. Combined with data from an experiment in which non-native speakers learned to differentiate tones of Mandarin Chinese, they gained new insights into how we learn languages.
