Seed new ideas in the college by bringing visiting faculty to campus and promoting college-wide faculty collaboration.

LEAD: Dr. Shelley Payne. Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs

ACCOMPLISHMENTS

Departments are in the process of developing visiting faculty programs. Both the Department of Computer Science and the Department of Mathematics have begun exploring ways to establish and fund short- and long-term visits of up to one semester for faculty from outside institutions. These visits may include seminars, classes, workshops and colloquia with the visiting faculty member to spur long-term interaction and collaboration with students, postdoctoral fellows and faculty.

BENCHMARKS FOR IMPLEMENTATION

  • Visiting faculty appointments will result in long-term collaborations resulting in publications or joint grant submissions.
  • Visiting faculty appointments in our departments will strengthen and support our efforts to hire faculty at the interface of disciplines.

OUR METRICS FOR CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT

The College will:

  • track visiting faculty appointments
  • ask departments to track collaborations that evolve as a consequence of visiting appointments
