Join the Priscilla Pond Flawn Child and Family Laboratory for a free scientific talk by a leading expert on the benefits of high-quality early childhood education, as the historic lab school gears up for its 100th anniversary.

Description

The Priscilla Pond Flawn Child & Family Laboratory is fast approaching its centennial year! Since January 1927, the UT Lab School has contributed to dozens of multifaceted research studies; supported the thriving of hundreds of children and families across generations; and created an enduring legacy of undergraduate and graduate leaders who are applying the science of child development. To celebrate a century of this educational, scientific, and community excellence, a new set of events, sponsored by the Department of Human Development and Family Sciences and the School of Human Ecology, will bring folks together for a series of scientific and celebratory events.

Deborah Vandell

World-renowned scholar Dr. Deborah Vandell is Chancellor’s Professor Emerita in the University of California, Irvine’s School of Education, and as inaugural speaker in the series, will cover the long-term benefits of high-quality early education experiences. Vandell has spent her long career examining the needs of young children, including as it pertains to their relationships with the care-giving adults and programs around them.
