Come join Dr. Young as he presents his award-winning research on how interactions between “clock” genes of circadian clocks can affect a host of biological functions in organisms from fruit flies to humans.

Description

The Dean’s Scholars Student Association is hosting their annual (and free) Distinguished Lecture Series at Jester Auditorium on Thursday, April 13, 5-6:15pm. This year’s speaker is alumnus Dr. Michael Young, who received the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 2017 for his work on identifying genes involved in circadian rhythms in Drosophila. He will discuss his award-winning research on circadian rhythms and their implications for studying sleep disorders and cognitive functions, his career path (which began at UT) and the importance of scientific research.
