Description
With a Ph.D. in Ocean Science from the University of Southern California, Juli Berwald is the author of “Spineless” and “Life on the Rocks”—the latter a finalist for the L.A. Times Book Prize. Her writing has appeared in National Geographic, Texas Monthly, Smithsonian, Nature and Science. Berwald also serves as the Embajadora de los Arrecifes in Tela, Honduras, where she co-founded the nonprofit Tela Coral to protect one of the healthiest coral reefs in the Caribbean.
In this engaging talk, Berwald will explore the hidden lives of jellyfish and coral—two of the ocean’s most foundational species—and why they often go unnoticed due to our land-focused perspective. She’ll also highlight inspiring global efforts to preserve and restore these critical marine ecosystems.
This free program from Texas Science & Natural History Museum will be followed by a Q&A and light reception. An RSVP is required.
