Description

Brackenridge Field Lab is excited to announce the Spring 2025 BioBlitz. This event is a follow-up to last year’s blitz, during which the lab catalogued the biodiversity along the stream corridor of Schulle Creek prior to large-scale invasive species removal. They invite you to come see the field station’s transformation and support their efforts in urban ecological restoration.

The BioBlitz is open to all, regardless of experience. Whether you’re a scientist or just curious, there is something for everyone.

What to Expect

  • Flexible participation: Attend at your convenience between 8 a.m. – 10 p.m. Volunteers can participate in one or multiple shifts.
  • Lunchtime talk: Hear from Dr. Larry Gilbert about the field station’s history and value at an optional talk.
  • Field station exploration: Discover the diverse ecosystem near downtown Austin.
  • Nocturnal adventures: See how BFL changes after dark during optional blacklighting insect surveys from 8-10 p.m.

Join Brackenridge Field Lab for this fun and unique experience to enhance understanding of local biodiversity.
