Entering Freshmen: Apply for the Fall Period

In order to join FRI in the fall of your freshman year, you must have been accepted to the College of Natural Sciences as a freshman.  If you are a transfer student or advanced student, you should Apply for Spring or Apply for Summer.  Students in the College of Natural Sciences have the highest priority in joining FRI.

Partner Programs

The following partner programs grant students who are admitted to the partner program automatic acceptance into FRI:

  • Health Science Scholars (HSS)
  • Dean's Scholars (DS)
  • Polymathic Scholars (PS)
  • Women in Natural Sciences (WINS)
  • Biology Scholars Program (BSP)
  • University Leadership Network (ULN) - students who are also in CNS

Late Application

Students who are admitted to the College of Natural Sciences for Fall 2018 and miss the early application deadline can submit a Late FRI Application.

Key Dates for Late Application

Students who submitted an FRI application (either early or late) but were not accepted, will be placed on the FRI Waitlist. If you are accepted from the waitlist and offered a placement in FRI, we will contact you during the summer.

In fall, waitlisted students will also be invited to submit a Stream Sort form, which will move them to the stream waitlist. If space allows, waitlisted students may be placed into streams for spring.

If you have questions about the application process, please e-mail friadmissions@utexas.edu.
