Create your employer Handshake account to conenct with us!

Handshake is our on-campus recruiting and job posting platform for the College of Natural Sciences that allows employers to post paid full-time, internship, or part-time positions for Natural Sciences current students and recent grads (within the last semester of graduation).

Positions that require more than 1 year of experience or positions that are contract/short-term positions, should be posted to HireUTexas, which is a job posting site for all current students and alumni of The University of Texas at Austin.

Third-party recruiters: Please note that we do not allow third-party recruiters to have access to our recruiting system. If you are a third-party recruiter, we can post your position for you if you allow us to disclose the name of the company the position you are recruiting for would be with. Otherwise, please proceed to HireUTexas.

Internship & Job Posting Guidelines

We currently hold two career fairs each year.  The Career Fair is held each fall semester, usually in September, and the Spring Career Fair is typically held at the end of January/early February. Employers that attend hire students from various natural sciences backgrounds and are seeking candidates for full-time, part-time, and internship positions.

  • Fall Recruiting: The day after the career fair through first week in November.
  • Spring Recruiting: The day after the career fair through second week in March.

Students should be given sufficient time to make an informed decision regarding offers they receive. Listed below are the timeframe minimums which the Career Center expects employers to offer students:

  • Prior to graduation: 3 weeks
  • After graduation: 2 weeks

Please see our Employer Recruiting Guidelines for more information!

Information sessions & company presentations can be a great way to raise awareness about your organization and can be a great way to connect with students.  We are happy to help facilitate the opportunity for you to get in front of our students!  The Career Services office will help to secure a location, make recommendations on food and will promote your event/presentation to our CNS students.

To request a session, please complete the survey below. Once our staff reviews the information and secures a location we will approve and confirm the event.

Please visit the NACE (National Association of Colleges and Employers) website for the most recent salary information regarding college students.  This link will provide you with a salary calculator to give you accurate information on the average salaries for specific positions in which your company may be hiring.

Disclaimer: From time to time, it comes to our attention that an employer seeking to recruit on campus faces accusations of mistreatment of employees or recruits or otherwise presents evidence of being an unsuitable hiring match for our students. In these circumstances, Career Services reserves the right to classify an employer’s status as pending in our recruiting platform, Handshake. No jobs are posted during this period, and all Career Fair attendance and recruiting on campus is suspended until such time as Career Services deems the issue to have been resolved.
