The Math Department provides an online learning environment in the online Math Readiness Package for self-remediation to work toward readiness for math at UT.

  1. GOALS

The initial goal is to give you an honest and accurate assessment of your mathematical strengths and weaknesses. The final goal is to prepare you for your mathematics course at UT.

  • Be Honest.
  • Complete the assessment on your own.
  • Do not use a calculator, books, other materials, the Internet, or consult with anyone during the assessment.
  • Scratch paper will be needed.
  • The initial assessment will take up to 60 minutes to complete, so plan accordingly.

The online Math Readiness Package platform will provide you with ratings in a variety of topics after completion of the warm-up assessment. Follow your ratings to guide you to the learning modules where you need the most remediation. Our data has shown that your logarithm and trigonometry scores are most strongly correlated with success in Pre-Calculus and Calculus I at UT. We strongly encourage you to continue working through the learning modules above and beyond the recommended score of 70+ in each topic area to master all of these areas before taking Pre-Calculus or Calculus I at UT.

Below is a list of the main topics in which you should be well versed when entering Calculus I:
