The University of Texas at Austin is a hotbed of talent for research and ultimately, for translation of that research into societal impact. In the College of Natural Sciences, we look to involve undergraduate students in this endeavor by educating them about entrepreneurship and the technology commercialization process and by connecting them to hands-on, real-world opportunities to get involved.

Launched in the Spring of 2017, CNS Inventors is a pathway for CNS students to experience what it means to translate research into societal impact. The pilot Inventors cohort includes students working on ideas developed through the experience in the Freshman Research Initiative. The Inventors program is designed to demystify key industry and commercialization practices and empower students to engage in commercialization activities early in their undergraduate education.
