Strategic Research Initiatives maintains a list of funding opportunities that are of broad interest to researchers in the College of Natural Sciences. We also maintain a calendar to allow you to plan for internal competitions associated with limited submission opportunities.

Where else can I find funding opportunities?

Search for Foundation and Corporate Funding Opportunities

The University's Development Office maintains a database of nongovernmental funding opportunities, including private foundation and corporate opportunities. Their database is limited to foundations and corporations that have invited Letters of Inquiry (LOIs) or Requests for Proposals (RFPs) in a specific discipline for submission by a specific deadline.

Search the SciVal Funding Database

The University of Texas System has an institutional subscription to SciVal Funding, an online funding opportunity database owned by Elsevier. As part of this institutional subscription, anyone (faculty, staff, student or postdoc) can create a SciVal profile using their UT email address and can access the site when logged on to the network.

SciVal indexes more than 19,000 active funding opportunities, and includes both federal and private foundation funding opportunities. It allows you to search for federal and private funding all in one place.

Other Key SciVal Features:

  • Saved Searches: You can save your search settings within your SciVal profile, or even set up a schedule to have SciVal run searches for you and email the results to you on a daily, weekly or monthly basis.
  • Favorites: You can bookmark specific funding opportunities as “Favorites” so that you can quickly retrieve them whenever you log in to SciVal.
