FellowsLibrarySome of the 200-plus proposals created by Polymathic ScholarsOne of the features that makes Polymathic Scholars unique is that students have the freedom to design a field of study and receive an academic credential–a certificate–in that field. So, for example, while the University of Texas doesn’t have a “Medical Ethics” degree, Polymathic Scholars can nevertheless create a certificate curriculum in “Medical Ethics,” or any other field that’s been approved by our faculty.

Once students decide on a name for their field of study, they write a proposal in which they justify their curriculum on personal and academic grounds. In their proposal, students select at least four courses and explain how each is relevant to their proposed plan of study.
