Sean Carroll talks about epic adventures in the search for the origins of species at the Hot Science - Cool Talks lecture series.Event: "Remarkable Creatures: Epic Adventures in the Search for the Origins of Species," presented by Dr. Sean Carroll as part of the Environmental Science Institute's "Hot Science, Cool Talks" Lecture Series.

Background: Two centuries of natural history - from the epic journeys of pioneering naturalists to the breakthroughs making headlines today - have inspired and expanded one of the greatest ideas of modern science: evolution. Encounter the many amazing creatures and the researchers and scientists whose achievements sparked a revolution that changed, profoundly and forever, our perception of the living world and our place within it.

Sean B. Carroll is an award-winning scientist, author, and educator. He is a Professor of Molecular Biology and Genetics and an Investigator with the Howard Hughes Medical Institute at the University of Wisconsin. His research has centered on the genes that control animal body patterns and play major roles in the evolution of animal diversity. Major discoveries from his laboratory have been featured in TIME, U.S. News & World Report, The New York Times, Discover, and Natural History.
