Campus and City-Wide Boil Water Notice Issued

Campus and City-Wide Boil Water Notice Issued

The City of Austin has issued a citywide boil water notice. You should not drink the water without boiling it first. Please take advantage of bottled water or boil water you will be using for drinking, teeth-brushing or rinsing dishes.

It is important that you follow this guidance on and off campus until we hear more from Austin Water.

We realize this is a great inconvenience but these precautions are necessary in the wake of the central Texas flood situation. Your patience and cooperation are appreciated.

For more information and updates, visit UT Austin's emergency website, which includes frequently asked questions for students and employees: https://emergency.utexas.edu/

City social media channels are another good resource for information:

Update for Wednesday, Oct. 24:
UT Austin has water available for distribution to students, staff and faculty at the Texas Union Building, Student Services Building, Gregory Gym and Recreational Sports Center. Please bring your UT ID to receive a free bottled water to supplement boiled water you bring from home.

The city and university continue to encourage you to conserve water and to use recycling stations to recycle plastic bottles.
