FRI students and Research Educators routinely make great contributions to scientific research. In fact, the core purpose of the FRI program is to enable undergraduate students to actively participate in the research activities going on in their departments, starting at their first year. As a result, FRI students have made advances in a variety of research areas including self­driving cars, discovery of exoplanets, cell biology, and beyond. Hundreds of published peer-reviewed papers and conference proceedings have included FRI students as co-authors.
