About
Faculty Assessment of Teaching
Faculty should have regular reviews and observations of their teaching, including expert evaluations performed by the Texas Institute for Discovery Education in Science (TIDES), peer assessments, and reflective teaching observations. These assessments are part of the dossiers for Promotion and Tenure, Mid-Probationary and Third-Year Reviews, and Comprehensive Periodic Reviews (CPR).
For more information on the importance of peer teaching observations, as well as how to implement feedback to get the most from these reviews, please see the Faculty Innovation Center's Peer Observation of Teaching guide.

TIDES External/Expert Evaluations
TIDES External/Expert Evaluations
Every Fall semester, the Texas Institute for Discovery Education in Science (TIDES) will contact departments to confirm which faculty members will need an expert, external evaluation done prior to the upcoming academic year. For example, if a faculty member will be going up for their mid-probationary review in 2021-22, TIDES will follow up with the department in the Fall of 2020 to schedule an evaluation.
For any questions or concerns regarding faculty who are being considered for an external evaluation, please contact Kristin Patterson.
