The College of Natural Sciences Human Resources office provides human resources administration and assistance to the Dean's Office and CNS departments/ORUs, and provides resources for department contacts who manage HR processes within the College.
Our general responsibilities include
Dean's Office
- Provide all aspects of human resource functions
- Assist Dean, Associate Deans and Directors with strategic decision-making for staffing
- Work with managers on best practices for managing staff
- Provide ad hoc training and consultation to Dean's office leadership
- Post and monitor job vacancies
- Participate in selection committees for recruitments
- Employee relations
- Onboarding/offboarding of staff and student employees
- Coordination of performance management
- Manage the timekeeping system
- Maintain Dean's office personnel files
CNS Departments and Centers
- Assist departments with staffing decisions and strategies
- Provide consultation for departmental Chairs, Directors, and CNS HR Contacts
- Review electronic business processes for adherence to UT policies and College guidelines
- Assist with recruitment as needed
- Monitor compliance with UT policies concerning work authorization, background checks, and required University compliance training
- Analyze data for management decision-making
- Review and coordination of personnel action forms, and other forms requiring Dean approval
- Provide consultation and assistance pertaining to employee relations
- Ad hoc training to departmental and center HR contacts on university and CNS policies and procedures
- Communicate information related to UT and CNS policies to department business and HR contacts
- Actively participate in decision-making concerning UT-wide information system configurations, testing, and training
