About Us

Women in Chemistry is a group of undergraduate and graduate students at the University of Texas that supports the role of women in chemistry. Iota Sigma Pi is a national honor society recognizing women in chemistry.

The Mission of Iota Sigma Pi and Women in Chemistry is to:

Improve the education and employment opportunities for those in chemistry and
Provide a supportive environment for personal and professional development.

We seek to fulfill our mission through these objectives:

Recognize and encourage women in chemistry-related fields,
Provide networking opportunities with faculty and professionals,
Support cross disciplinary exposure,
Provide mentoring opportunities,
Facilitate discussions on:
        • barriers facing women and minorities
        • issues related to balancing family and work
        • statistics of women in science careers and degree programs
        • history of women in science
Provide professional development information,
Encourage personal development.
