Custodial Services:

Only common areas receive daily attention. Individual offices and laboratories are cleaned once a week. Office refuse is removed once a week. Please see the official UT OS1 Cleaning Schedule for details.

Autoclaves & Labware Washer Locations:

Common-use autoclaves and labware washing machines are located in 1.244, 2.318, 3.322, and 4.322. The fifth floor autoclave room (5.322) is closed. Please note that 4.322 will no longer be an autoclave room after spring 2007.

If you experience problems with the autoclaves, please contact the NMS Building Manager with the details.
Detergent and other consumables for the labware washers are purchased through the MGM office. Please contact the NMS Building Manager before contacting MGM personnel (there may be a backstock of detergent elsewhere at NMS).

Building & Room Access (Keys, Key Fobs, and Prox Cards):

Keys: Keys for MGM or ICMB personnel may be obtained from the School of Biological Sciences. Please contact Katherine Reynolds for details. Keys for CLM personnel may be obtained from the CLM offices at NMS 4.104. Please contact Kathleen Pantalion for details.

Key Fobs: The common areas of NMS are secured by special locks. These areas include breakrooms, student areas, conference rooms, the seminar room, and the cell sorter space. To request special electronic key "fobs" to access these areas, please have your PI send a request to the NMS Building Manager. Make sure to include the following information: full name, UT EID, PI, date your rotation expires (if applicable), your position within the lab (research staff, undergrad, grad student, post doc), and the specific rooms you'd like to access.

Prox Cards: Afterhours access to NMS is available only to those individuals with special encoded UT ID's. These ID's are commonly referred to as "Prox Cards". If you wish to gain entry to NMS before 7am or after 6pm Monday-Friday or anytime during the weekend you will need to have an active Prox Card. CLM personnel must request Prox Card permissions through the CLM office in NMS 4.104. MGM and other non-CLM personnel must request permissions through the NMS Building Manager in NMS 1.308.

Emergency and Afterhours Contacts:

All afterhours (6pm-7am M-F, anytime Sat & Sun) building problems (toilets overflowing, elevator not working, stuck door, broken glass, water leak, anything non-lifethreatening) should be reported to UT Facilities Maintenance at 471-2020. They will dispatch afterhours personnel to remedy the problem.

Security issues, suspicious activity, and other afterhours safety concerns should be reported to UTPD at 471-4441.
