Undergraduate Research Fellowships
The College of Natural Sciences funds and/or administers a number of fellowships for students doing research. We can also help direct you to many outside sources of funding for students engaged in research.
Obtaining a research position shouldn't be the end of your efforts to integrate research into your life. The college supports its student researchers in a number of ways.
The single most important thing for you to remember, however, is that you can come to us, at the Office for Honors, Research and International Study, with your questions about research.
CNS Career Services - Career advisors can help your create and update your resume, review application materials and set up mock interviews.
Women in Natural Sciences - Women in Natural Sciences (WINS) is a program of the College of Natural Sciences at The University of Texas at Austin designed to promote recruitment, retention, and success of women at all levels throughout the college.
Multicultural Academic Initiative - The MAI office was established to serve as a home base where underrepresented students in the sciences can receive academic support, advice, and counseling throughout their journey at UT.
Support for Travel to Conferences - The college offers funds to support undergraduate student travel to national and international conferences and professional meetings. All students attending a conference are eligible to apply for funding. Those who are presenting their research at the conference will be given priority.
Funding - The college has scholarships and fellowships that are awarded particularly to support research, and we can direct you, as well, to funding opportunities supported by the federal government, national science organizations, and industry.
Poster Printing - Poster printing is provided free of charge by the college to CNS students presenting at conferences or participating in our Research Forum. Students are welcome to print their own posters if they have access to alternative resources.
Poster Stands - Poster stands can be provided free of charge by OHRIS to CNS departments or for a small fee for non CNS departments.
GURU - GURU is a student group in the Cockrell School of Engineering dedicated to pairing BME graduate students and undergraduates in biomedical research expereinces.
Other Student organizations -- many of the students organizations in the college sponsor research-related activities, workshops and lectures
Every spring, the college celebrates its student-scientists at the Undergraduate Research Forum, a one-day even at which more than 120 students give posters and oral presentations describing their research. The best and most innovative posters and presentations are recognized with awards judged and sponsored by the university, faculty, alumni and industry.
