The Joint Admission Medical Program (JAMP) is a special program created by the Texas Legislature to support and encourage highly qualified, economically disadvantaged students pursuing a medical education.

Application Workshops:
The live Spring 2008 Application Workshops have concluded. They will be repeated in the fall semester. In the meantime, you may listen to a recorded version of the workshop in the Health Professions Office Library in Painter 5.03

• Mentoring to prepare for medical school while attending college
• Admission to a Texas medical school (if all program requirements are met)

Requirements (to stay in JAMP)*
• Maintain a minimum cumulative and science GPA of 3.25
• Graduate in four years
• Take MCAT during the spring of your Junior year
• Complete two summer internships
• Meet with the JAMP Faculty Director once a month in the fall and spring semesters
• Apply for admission to medical schools through the application service (TMDSAS)

Eligibility - To apply for JAMP, candidates must:
• Have enrolled at UT Austin in the fall semester immediately following graduation from high school or a home-schooled program.
• Have met or exceeded the current mean (for Texas) on the SAT or ACT
• Be a Texas resident
• Have been eligible to receive a Pell Grant during the first year of college
• Have completed 27 credit hours with a 3.25 GPA or higher during the fall and spring semesters of the first year (only 3 hours of AP credit can be included)
• Submit the online application on the JAMP website

• First year pre_JAMP students are encouraged to join the pre-JAMP listserv.  This listserv will be used to communicate with students who intend to apply to JAMP.  List members will receive notice of application workshops, deadline reminders, applications strategies, and notice of relevant events.
