Undergraduate Scholarships

The 2013-2014 College of Natural Sciences online scholarship application is now available.  Please note that a complete application consists of the online portion and at least one (1) faculty letter of recommendation.  Instructions on how to submit the letters of recommendation can be found on the application.

You can access the online application at https://www.utexas.edu/cns/scholap.  Please be sure to carefully read the instructions before submitting an application.

The deadline for submission of the online application and letters of recommendation is April 15, 2013.  Late and incomplete applications will not be considered.

Dr. H. Franklyn Alexander Endowed Scholarship
Applicants must be full-time undergraduate students of high academic achievement in the College of Natural Sciences who are United States citizens or permanent residents. Students who have graduated from a Texas high school are strongly encouraged to apply. Students from a non-metropolitan area, for example one with a population of less than 150,000 people, are also encouraged to apply.

Robert E. Boyer Endowed Presidential Scholarship for Natural Sciences
Applicants must be full-time students enrolled in the College of Natural Sciences with a minimum 3.75 GPA and have completed 45 credit hours in residence at UT.

College of Natural Sciences Foundation Scholarship
Applicants must be a current full-time major in the College of Natural Sciences and have completed at least one semester of coursework in the College.  Financial need will be taken into consideration.

Robert Smith Davis and Lyall Pickett Davis Scholarship

Applicants must be a full-time junior, senior or graduate student declaring a major in one of the following: Physics, Biological Sciences, Chemistry/Biochemistry or Mathematics. Applicants must be planning a career in some field of science, have financial need and have a minimum 3.0 GPA.

Dow Chemical Company-University of Texas Alumni Endowed Scholarship
Applicants must be a child or grandchild of a current or retired Dow Chemical Company employee. Both incoming freshman and continuing students are encouraged to apply. Award is merit based and will be given to the most academically qualified full-time students based on high school or college grades.  Recipients must be enrolled full-time.

Georgia Felter and Carey Legett, Jr. Dean's Endowed Scholarship
Applicants must be a current full-time major in the College of Natural Sciences. Students must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident. Financial need will be taken into consideration.

Hou-Li Scholarship in Natural Sciences
Applicants must be junior undergraduates in the College of Natural Sciences with a minimum 3.5. GPA in the Natural Sciences, and who plan on pursuing a graduate degree.  Students who excel in Liberal Arts, Fine Arts or Athletics are strongly encouraged to apply.  Financial need will be taken into consideration.

Ethel Gene Kahmer Endowed Scholarship
Applicants must be sophomore, junior or senior level undergraduates in the College of Natural Sciences who have demonstrated leadership, character and an interest in and potential for a successful career involving mathematics, physics or chemistry.

Bonnie and H. Elton Lacey Endowed Scholarship
Applicants must be current undergraduate students majoring in a degree from the College of Natural Sciences and who have lived in or matriculated from the rural areas of either Texas or Mississipi.  Students who are currently employed are strongly encouraged to apply.

Thomas and Elizabeth Merner Scholarship in Natural Sciences
Applicants should be majoring in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or other sciences, and can be of any classification. Students must be enrolled full-time, in financial need and show strong academic performance.

National Instruments Endowed Scholarship for Excellence
Applicants must be a sophomore or above and must be majoring in Computer Sciences, Mathematics or Physics with a minimum 3.5 GPA and enrolled full-time. Students who are involved in research that includes a substantial level of computing or laboratory measurement skills are encouraged to apply.

Natural Sciences Council Endowed Service Scholarship
Applicants must be a current major in the College of Natural Sciences and must be in good academic standing with a minimum 3.0 GPA.  Applicant should display qualities of service and commitment, to the benefit of the community, above and beyond the average student.  Students demonstrating service to the College of Natural Sciences are strongly encouraged to apply.

*Recipients are chosen by a committee that will include students and faculty.

Elizabeth Sherrell Endowed Scholarship
Applicants must be a full-time sophomore or above majoring in Mathematics, Physics or Chemistry/Biochemistry with at least a 3.0 GPA in their major. Students who are Texas residents and students who work 10 or more hours per week are strongly encouraged to apply.

Kevin E. Underhill Memorial Endowed Presidential Scholarship
Applicants must be a junior or senior enrolled full-time in the College of Natural Sciences with a minimum 3.75 GPA and have completed 45 credit hours in residence at UT.

James W. Vick Endowed Presidential Scholarship in Natural Sciences
Applicants must be a junior or senior enrolled full-time in the College of Natural Sciences with a minimum 3.75 GPA and have completed 45 credit hours in residence at UT.

Brian Murray Welch Endowed Memorial Scholarship
Applicants must be current full-time majors in the College of Natural Sciences with a minimum 3.0 GPA. Students who are employees of, or whose parents or grandparents are employees of ONDEO Nalco are strongly encouraged to apply. Students who are graduates from the Childress Independent School District in Childress, TX, or graduates of Permian High School in Odessa, TX are also encouraged to apply.
