Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between the two ceremonies?
The CNS ceremony provides an opportunity for students to be recognized individually by the college and their department. Student names will be called and the honors they received will be read by the Associate Dean and greeted by the Dean and Department Chair. In addition, the CNS ceremony is an opportunity for us to recognize scholarship and awards within the College. The University-wide ceremony is larger, and thus students are recognized in groups. Honor cords and medallions will be distributed at the University-wide event.
Where can I park?
Parking for this event is available on a first-come, first-served basis in Lot 108, adjacent to the south side of the Erwin Center, or Lot 80, located on the west side of Red River between Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. and Robert Dedman Drive. More information about parking can be found here. Additional parking is available in the Trinity Garage for approximately $9 to $12, depending on the length of your stay. More rate information can be found here.
How long does the ceremony last? What is the schedule for the event?
The CNS ceremony will last from 7:30 until about 8:45, and the dessert reception will last until approximately 9:30 p.m.
Will food be served?
The CNS ceremony will be followed by a dessert reception for students and their families.
I can't attend the University-wide ceremony. When can I pick up my honor cords and/or medallion?
You will be able to pick up your cords and/or medallion beginning the week of April 15 on a first-come, first-served basis. More information about pickup location, dates, and times will be posted shortly. Please note that cords/medallions are only guaranteed to those who attend the University-wide ceremony.
Do I just show up or do I need to RSVP in advance?
What time do I need to arrive on the 12th?
Students will need to arrive between 6:50 and 7:15 p.m. and report to the Lone Star Room. Doors will open to guests at 7 p.m. All students and guests should use the Red River entrance.
What is the suggested attire for this event?
Dress is business casual.
What if I have a guest with disabilities?
Accommodation requests for disability services should be made at least five days prior to the activity. While every effort will be made, the University may be unable to fulfill last-minute requests.
