By default, the voice mail system will answer your calls if you don’t pick up the phone within three or four rings.
To Set Up Your Voice Mail
- Decide on a password (any number) and a greeting before you begin. You must also know your extension number, which should be in the dean's office phone directory.
- Dial *510 and wait for the voice mail system to answer.
- Press *
- When asked for your id number, enter your extension number.
- When asked for the password, enter the default password, which is 1234 (or 9876).
- Follow the instructions to record your name and greeting and to change your password.
To Retrieve Your Messages
Dial *52 and wait for the voice mail system to answer. When asked, enter your password. Follow the spoken instructions.
Note: If you dial *52 when you have no messages waiting, you will hear a busy signal.
To Send a Message
To leave a message for someone without causing their phone to ring:
Dial *510
When asked, enter the person’s extension number. Follow the spoken instructions.
Note: You can leave yourself a voice message in this way.
To Check Voice Mail Away from Your Office
- Dial: 232-1050 (voice mail after hours phone number)
- While the woman is talking, press the "*" key on your phone. The system will ask you for your 4 digit id number (same as your internal extension number.) If you've forgotten your extension number, look in the dean's office phone directory.
- Type in the password that you use to check your voice mail while in the office.
