Eligibility: All classified personnel are eligible who are full-time employees (40 hours per week for at least four and one-half months), and who have completed two or more years of consecutive service to the College of Natural Sciences Dean’s Office. Only classified staff (non-advisor, non-Code 1000 (or A&P)), are eligible. If you are unsure if your nominee is eligible, contact Domingo Morales.
Nomination Procedure: Nomination consists of completing the nomination form and forwarding three supporting letters from faculty/staff. Staff members may nominate their colleagues. The nomination and recommendations should include specific information supporting the nomination, i.e. what makes this staff member an exception among the other staff.
Criteria: The following criteria should be followed when nominating employees:
a. Job Related Skills
i) Performance/Reliability – shows consistent high quality and demonstrates a high level of skill resulting in productivity exceeding the required levels.
ii) Responsiveness - displays efforts which result in meeting or exceeding expectations in terms of time, quality, quantity, specified needs.
iii) Willingness - gives extra effort to complete a job or handle a heavy workload, works above and beyond the job requirements.b. People Related Skills
i) Communications Skills - uses communication skills to promote and enhance the working environment, keeps communication lines open with co-workers, students, faculty, and is a positive representative for the College to the general public.
ii) Positive Attitude - courteous and cooperative, maintains "can do" attitude.
iii) Leadership - takes the initiative to motivate others to perform in positive and productive ways, makes creative suggestions, makes a point of recognizing excellence in others.
Nominations and letters of support should be submitted through the Dean’s Office to Dr. Linda Reichl, WCH 3.104, G2500 by March 3, 2008.
Awards Committee: A committee consisting of Associate Dean Linda Reichl, two faculty members (excluding chairmen and directors) and two previous award winners will select one full-time employee as the award winner. The recipient will be honored at the College of Natural Sciences Honors Banquet to be held at the San Jacinto Dorm on April 27, 2007.
Awards: One award winner will be selected. The award recipient receives:
Letter of acknowledgment from the Dean
College plaque
Check for $500 (subject to taxes)
Recognition on the College web site
