Data Reporting and Analysis

WE ARE HERE TO HELP!

Data-driven decision-making in education refers to faculty, staff, and administrators systematically collecting and analyzing various types of data, including input, process, outcome, and satisfaction data, to guide a range of decisions to help improve the success of students in courses, programs, and initiatives.

To support data-driven decision making in our College, our office provides the following support services: 

Data reporting and analysis for student performance in CNS courses, programs, and initiatives, including:

  • Accessing and summarizing relevant data from CNS or UT sources
  • Analyzing data related to student performance for courses, programs, and initiatives 

Current examples include:

  • Tracking movement of students from gateway courses to advanced courses
  • Assessing relations among student pass/fail rates, placement test and other standardized test scores, and course assignments 

Technical assistance related to program design and evaluation and data collection and analysis, including:

  • Assisting in the design of questions for inquiry, data collection, and data analysis
  • Providing guidance on elements of program development and evaluation 

Current examples include:

  • Designing assessment plans for curricular changes
  • Modeling the development and assessment of placement tests and course assignments  

Development and support of automated processes for data retrieval and reporting for administrative functions, including:

  • Developing applications for automated electronic data collection and storage
  • Developing applications for automated electronic data retrieval and reporting

Current examples include:

  • Incorporating new data fields into current CNS web-based structures for reporting and storage
  • Implementing automatic downloads and displays of student performance data for programs and initiatives
