10 Simple Rules for Making Good Oral Presentation

Obtaining a research position shouldn't be the end of your efforts to integrate research into your life. The college supports its student researchers in a number of ways.
Offices
Programs
Resources
Student Organizations
Undergraduate Research Forum
The single most important thing for you to remember, however, is that you can come to us, at the Office for Honors, Research and International Study, with your questions about research.

Offices

CNS Career Services - career advisors can help your create and update your resume, review application materials and set up mock interviews.

Undergraduate Writing Center - writing consultants can help you prepare your personal statements and review proposals.

The university's Center for Global Educational Opportunities (C-GEO) and the college's International Science Coordinator can help you find the right research opportunity abroad (and help you find funding to make it possible).

Programs

Women in Natural Sciences - Women in Natural Sciences (WINS) is a program of the College of Natural Sciences at The University of Texas at Austin designed to promote recruitment, retention, and success of women at all levels throughout the college.

Multicultural Academic Initiative - The MAI office was established to serve as a home base where underrepresented students in the sciences can receive academic support, advice, and counseling throughout their journey at UT.

Resources

Funding - The college has scholarships and fellowships that are awarded particularly to support research, and we can direct you, as well, to funding opportunities supported by the federal government, national science organizations, and industry.

EUREKA! - the research database offers extensive information on how to publish your work, how to obtain funding, how to do research abroad, and how to use your research experience to augment your resume and improve your chances of getting the right job or getting into the right school.

Student Organizations

SURGe - SURGe is a student group that works to foster a cohesive undergraduate research community here at The University of Texas.

Undergraduate Research Journal

Texas Neuroscience Review

Other Student organizations -- many of the students organizations in the college sponsor research-related activities, workshops and lectures.

Undergraduate Research Forum

Every spring, the college celebrates its student-scientists at the Undergraduate Research Forum, a one-day even at which more than 120 students give posters and oral presentations describing their research. The best and most innovative posters and presentations are recognized with awards judged and sponsored by the university, faculty, alumni and industry.
