Grant Writing Resources

Many federal program grants encourage faculty to include participation of undergraduates as part of their research.  Our office provides assistance to faculty who would like to incorporate existing undergraduate initiatives into their grant proposals in the form of:
1) discussions of ways faculty research can be integrated into existing undergraduate research initiatives (like the Freshman Research Initiative) and available resources that can be leveraged in a program grant,
2) letters of support detailing existing resources including, student recruitment and PR, long term college-wide assessment of student research success,  and seminars, workshops and publication forums for undergraduates.

We provide additional support for faculty interested in applying for NSF Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) type grants which involve summer research by visiting students. The College of Natural Sciences participates in a Summer Research Collaborative that arranges common housing, special fellow status for visiting undergraduates, a Welcome Reception, and social and educational activities throughout the summer.  A letter of support or a paragraph to include within a proposal are available upon request

If you'd like assistance including college support for undergraduate research and the resources we offer, (recruitment, assessment, collaboration), as a part of a grant proposal you're writing, please contact Dr. Sarah Simmons.
