The College of Natural Sciences supports its students in finding (or creating) the study abroad program that best suits their needs, and we can help make it work, wherever and however you want to do it.

There are, however, a number of programs that have proven consistently popular with natural sciences students over the past few years. They include:

Maymesters

These four and a half week courses, taught by UT faculty in some of the most fascinating corners of the globe, are the university's most popular for-credit study abroad programs. Read more.

Health Care in Mexico

Spend a summer or a semester at medical school in Guadalajara, Mexico, studying and going on rounds with Mexican medical students and professors. Read about it here, and for more information contact Dr. Jerry Brand or Dr. Jeanne Lagowski.

Cordoba Summer Program

The Universidad Nacional de Córdoba (UNC) in Cordoba, Argentina, offers two summer sessions and an array of coursework in Spanish language, literature, and civilization (some of which cross-list with Latin American Studies) during each. 

Of particular interest is NTR 352 - Field Experiences in Nutrition, which is taught in English by UT Austin Professor Jeanne Freeland-Graves. Open to all, including non-Nutrition majors, who have completed NTR 311, the program emphasizes food, nutrition and health in Argentina. Contact Dr. Freeland-Graves for more information.

Nutrition in Mexico

Pre-med studies in Sussex

A program specifically designed for the needs of pre-medical students is offered at the University of Sussex, where students are registered in the School of Life Sciences. Core courses like General and Organic Chemistry are offered,

Summer Program in Genetics in Santander, Spain

These are programs created in cooperation with the University of Texas at Austin, and credits for certain courses have been pre-approved to transfer to your UT transcript.
