The student programs exist to help you find your own distinct community on campus while still enjoying the benefits and excitement of being at a school as big and as dynamic as The University of Texas at Austin. Among the programs the college sponsors are:
- First-Year Interest Groups (FIGs), which allow first-year students to take classes together with a small cohort of frosh who are interested in the same kinds of classes.
- The Freshman Research Initiative (FRI), which gives first year students the opportunity to initiate and engage in authentic research experiences while earning credit and being supported and mentored by faculty and graduate students.
- Emerging Scholars, which provides a more intensive learning environment for students in core classes in chemistry, calculus and biology.
- Women in Natural Sciences (WINS), which offers a host of intitatives to enrich the lives of student scientists.
- The International Study Office, which helps adventurous students find the right way to study abroad without losing ground in their pursuit of a degree here in Texas.
There should be the right program or programs for every student. And if there isn't, let us know and we'll try to create it, or we'll give you support in your effort to create it.
