| Graduating "With Honors" is a designation given to undergraduates at the culmination of their academic studies at the university. This designation is printed on university diplomas.
To be eligible to graduate with University Honors, an undergraduate must have completed at least sixty semester hours at the University of Texas at Austin. Courses taken pass/fail are counted in the sixty-hour minimum, but only letter grades (including Fs in pass/fail courses) are used to determine the grade point average. Only the top 20 % of the graduating class can receive "Honors." The top 10 % can receive "High Honors." The top 4 % can receive "Highest Honors." Highest Honors: 3.9696-4.00 High Honors: 3.8800-3.9695 Honors: 3.7343-3.8799 Official honors will be calculated at the end of the semester to include final grades. Certification of honors will not be complete until May 27, 2008. Starting this date, degree information will be posted to transcripts.
