Incoming first-years will be automatically considered for most scholarships for which they're eligible if they fill out the university's Common Application for scholarships for incoming first-year students.

The deadline is December 1st of the applicant’s senior year in high school.

Other scholarships for which first-years are eligible include:

  • Merit Based Scholarships for Incoming Dean’s Scholars: All students admitted to the Dean’s Scholars Honors Program are considered for merit based scholarships at the discretion of the Director of the Dean’s Scholars Program and the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Education.
  • Departmental Scholarships
  • Dow Chemical Company – University of Texas Alumni Endowed Scholarships: Applicants must be a child or grandchild of a current or retired Dow Chemical Company employee.  Both incoming freshman and continuing students are encouraged to apply.  Award is merit based and will be given to the most academically qualified full-time students based on high school or college grades. Contact Adrianne Chacon for more details on how to apply.
  • Applicants from Texas who are National Merit Finalists will receive $4,000 for the first year and $3,000 for their second, third and fourth years. Applicants from Texas who are National Merit Semifinalists, but do not advance to Finalist standing, will receive a one-time, $1,000 scholarship for the first year only.
  • Out-of-state applicants who are National Merit Finalists will receive a $1,000 scholarship and a non-resident tuition exemption (NRTE) for a maximum of four years. The value of the NRTE is approximately $8,000 per year. Non-resident semi-finalists or commended scholars are not recognized with a scholarship offer.
