Welcome to the College of Natural Sciences! The first thing you need to know is that whenever you have a question but don't know where to find the answer, you can ask us.

The Dean's Office and the First-Year Advising Center share a front desk on the bottom floor of the Will C. Hogg building (WCH). We have people at the desk, and by the phone (471-4536), at all times during regular business hours, and we'll respond to your emails quickly and informatively. So get in touch.

Think of this webpage as a portal to all things natural sciences. We've tried to provide you with some of the information you need to succeed (and have a good time and make friends) during your first year in the college and at the university.

Hook 'em!

Things to do right away:

  1. Get a UT email address. It's official, and that's how we'll communicate with you (yahoo, gmail and hotmail are for your friends and friendsters).

  2. Meet your advisor. They're nice, and they are here to help you figure out this big university.

  3. Come to Gone to Natural Sciences and Gone to Texas and introduce yourself to your fellow collegians (or just eat pizza and sing Texas Fight). Starts at 6 p.m. on the East Mall.

  4. Find a Student Organization to your liking. There are a lot of them, each fun in its own unique way.
  5. Download and read "The Short Guide to Amplifying Your Academic Experience in the College of Natural Sciences," a brochure that describes many of the academic programs that the college has to offer.
  6. Explore everything. Because it's college and that's what you are supposed to do.
