2.) Graduating In Absentia
Students not currently enrolled must apply to graduate in absentia through the College of Natural Sciences Secure Web Services at: https://utdirect.utexas.edu/ns/index.html.
Students must have completed their degree requirements and allow additional time for materials to be received by the Dean’s Office prior to the deadline (March 24, 2008). Late applications will not be processed. Enclose all necessary forms and payment(s) in one envelope, and mail to:

3.) Application to Walk in CNS graduation ceremony
Students graduating in August who lack no more than 12 hours may apply to participate (or "walk") in the Spring 2008 ceremony. You may access the CNS graduation application to walk at: https://utdirect.utexas.edu/ns/index.html.

Honors
During the college graduation ceremonies we will announce honors based on your current GPA. These honors will not include any spring semester grades and will be announced using the following GPA criteria:

Official honors will be calculated at the end of the semester to include final grades. To qualify for honors you must have completed at least 60 hours at The University of Texas at Austin and be in the top 20 percent of your Natural Sciences graduating class. Click here for more information.
Certification of graduates and assignment of honors will not be complete until May 27, 2008. Starting this date, degree information will be posted to transcripts. Therefore, ANY ANNOUNCEMENTS MADE AT THE CEREMONY ARE TENTATIVE AND SUBJECT TO CHANGE.

Deadlines for degree candidates
All outstanding coursework must be completed with final grade posted to your Official UT record by deadlines listed below.
January 14, 2008
January 14 - March 24, 2008, 5PM
- Transfer Work - All completed transfer work must be sent to the UT Admissions Office. (Transfer courses must have a grade of at least C to meet degree requirements.)
- Petitions - Petitions must be initiated through your academic advisor in the advising center of your major.
March 24, 2008, 5PM
- Deadline for ALL students to apply to graduate.
- Deadline for ALL In Absentia students to apply to graduate. (Late in absentia applications will not be accepted.)
May 2, 2008, 5PM
- Deadline for all degree candidates' UT correspondence/UT distance education final course grades to post to student record.
- Last day of class
May 5, 2008
- Deadline for credit-by-exam grades to be posted to Official UT record to apply toward Spring 2008 graduation. Students must petition for credit-by-exam courses by midnight Sunday, May 4, 2008.
May 15, 2008, 5PM
- Deadline for Incompletes (grade X) to be received in CNS Dean's Office for degree candidates.
- Deadline for grade changes from instructors.
May 16, 2008, 5PM
- Deadline for students to apply for tuition rebate.
- Deadline for current transfer work (Spring 2008) to be posted to graduating students' records.
- ACC transcripts are available on May 16, 2008. Students transferring work from ACC must request a transcript. Information is available at: http://www.austincc.edu/admiss/transcript.htm.
May 17, 2008
- Official graduation date (printed on diploma).
- CNS Spring Graduation Ceremony for undergraduate degree candidates in all CNS majors, 8:00 AM and 12:00 noon.
May 27, 2008
- Transcripts available with degree posted.
- Diplomas begin to be mailed to the address you reported to the Registrar’s Office; it may take 6-8 weeks.

Tuition Rebate
An undergraduate may be eligible for a tuition rebate of up to $1000 if, at graduation, he or she has attempted no more than three semester hours beyond the minimum number of hours required for the degree. The student must meet the following eligibility requirements:
- The student must not have been enrolled at any institution of higher education before the fall semester of 1997.
- At the time he or she earns a first undergraduate degree, the student must have attempted no more than three semester hours beyond the minimum number of hours required for the degree. Hours attempted include:
- All courses the student has undertaken, such as transfer credit, courses the student dropped or from which the student withdrew after the date the official enrollment count was taken.
- Developmental courses taken for credit.
- Optional internship and cooperative education courses.
- Courses the student failed.
- Courses the student repeated.
- If the student has earned credit by examination for more than nine hours of coursework, the hours in excess of nine are also counted as hours attempted.
NOTE: Courses dropped for reasons that are determined by the institution to be totally beyond the control of the student shall not be counted.
- The student must have attempted all coursework at a Texas public institution of higher education.
- The student must have been a Texas resident and must have been eligible to pay resident tuition at all times while pursuing the degree.
- The Application for Tuition Rebate must be submitted before the official date of graduation.

The graduation ceremony will last approximately two hours. Come prepared to remain for the entire ceremony.
During the ceremony, each degree candidate will cross the stage and be congratulated. A professional photographer will be present. Candidates will have the option of purchasing photographs; there is no obligation to do so. An invitation for parents/guests will be sent to you.
DISABILITY/ACCESSIBILITY FOR COLLEGE GRADUATION CEREMONIES
Indicate on your graduation application if either you or a guest will need assistance at the college graduation ceremony. The Erwin Center is equipped for persons with mobility concerns. Persons needing assistance will be directed to conveniently located elevators and wheelchair seating.
PARKING FOR COLLEGE GRADUATION CEREMONIES
Parking is available in UT parking lots and UT parking garages. For more information see the UT campus parking maps. Additional parking may be found in State of Texas employee parking lots and garages near the Erwin Center.
