Welcome to the College of Natural Sciences.
It is our privilege to serve you as you embark on one of life's extraordinary experiences. Admission to The University of Texas at Austin is not easy, and your arrival here is already proof that you are among the very best. Together we share the responsibility of making sure your time in our college allows you to realize all of your goals and aspirations.
One guarantee that we can make is that when you graduate you will be a very different person than you are now-just think back to how much you changed over your four years of high school. Each of you will have a unique collection of experiences, both in and out of the classroom, which are certain to reshape you. Embrace the changes and you will have gotten the most out of college.
One of the realities of going to college is that it isn't cheap. Your tuition and fees pay for numerous academic opportunities and services. For the most part though, these opportunities will not come to you, you have to go to them. So whether it is a professor's lecture or office hours, a
professional advisor or
undergraduate research, an
Academic Community or
FIG, or even a
Study Abroad program, everything you need to be successful at UT is provided.
UT-Austin is a large campus and even as we try to make you feel at home, there are times you are going to feel lost, and times that you feel as if you are being shuffled from one person to the next. When that happens, remember that the College of Natural Sciences is your home. Please
come see us on the first floor of W.C. Hogg or call us at 471-4536 and you will get the service you need - and if you are still dissatisfied, e-mail Dr. Laude at dalaude@mail.utexas.edu and he will personally assist you.
