Meet our Mentors

WINS students are paired with a dedicated first-year academic advisor and an alumni mentor who help with the transition to college life.  They will also have access to WINS faculty members for additional advice and support.

“WINS really does help give each woman the confidence and support she needs to succeed in the field. As a mentor, I really feel lucky to be a part of building a strong foundation for my mentees to grow on. WINS allows every woman to gain her identity as a young "scientist" by building community.”

“At such a large university, sometimes it’s hard to make a close-knit group of friends that you see everyday. College is all about the people you’re with, and I don’t think I would have had such a fulfilling and memorable experience without my best friends that I made in WINS.”

“My favorite thing about being a mentor is being able to see my WINS mentees grow, get used to college life, and really excel at UT. I love helping them pursue opportunities like research and study abroad that they may not have otherwise considered.”
