Services Offered

Along with providing the physical space for students to meet in study groups, and a staff that helps organize and structure the groups, the Residential Hall Study Groups program provides:.

  • Tutoring: RHSG provides undergraduate tutors that are proficient in their disciplines (Math, Bio, Chem, Comp Sci). They are trained through the Peer Leader Academy (PLA) to be effective teachers and empathetic mentors. Our tutors have usually taken the exact same classes last year that you will be taking this year.
  • TA Office Hours: Several Graduate Teaching Assistants for introductory courses in Math, Chemistry, and Biology hold some of their office hours at the Residential Halls Study Groups locations. This additional focused course support promotes a robust foundation for success in these classes and brings students together for studying.
  • Review Sessions: Teaching Assistants hold review sessions at RHSG for their classes.
  • Tables for Specific Classes are expressly set up for students so peers can be easily located to initiate and engage in group study.

Finally, the most important component of the Residence Halls Study Groups is you - the students. And to help you make the most of your time at RHSG, we encourage you to:

  • Bring Your Own Materials, including notes, textbooks, and calculator. These things are essential for your study experience, but aren't provided by RHSG.

  • Choose Your Own Study Environment and keep in mind that RHSG in Jester has access to the food court and RHSG in Kinsolving is generally quieter.

  • Remember - Earlier Is Better. RHSG is a great way to augment or just survive your first semesters at UT academically. The sooner you get into the habit of taking advantage of RHSG resources, the more benefit you will have.

We look forward to seeing you at the tables!
