Community

The College of Natural Sciences believes that learning shouldn't exist in isolation. We learn best when at least some part of our studies are undertaken in the company of other students. The college also believes that science, understood properly, isn't just a matter of study and experimentation, but also of communication, education and collaboration.

With that in mind, we encourage our students to reach out to each other, and to reach out beyond the classroom -- to embed themselves meaningfully in the communal lives of the college, the university, the city of Austin, the nation, and the world. Below are some of the ways in which the college supports such involvement.

Texas Interdisciplinary Program

One of the ways TIP offers its students a more personal college experience is through activities such as leadership development, community service and recognition events. In addition, smaller class sizes, ease of registration, mentoring and tutoring foster academic excellence.
