Welcome to the College of Natural Sciences! The first thing you need to know is that whenever you have a question but don't know where to find the answer, you can ask us.
The Dean's Office and the First-Year Advising Center share a front desk on the bottom floor of the Will C. Hogg building
(WCH). We have people at the desk, and by the phone (471-4536), at all times during regular business hours, and we'll respond to your emails quickly and informatively. So
get in touch.
Think of
our webpage as a portal to all things natural sciences. We've tried to provide you with some of the information you need to succeed (and have a good time and make friends) during your first year in the college and at the university.
Hook 'em!
Things to do right away:
-
Get a UT email address. It's official, and that's how we'll communicate with you (yahoo, gmail and hotmail are for your friends and friendsters).
-
Meet your advisor during orientation. They're nice, and they are here to help you figure out this big university.
-
Come to Gone to Natural Sciences and Gone to Texas and introduce yourself to your fellow collegians (or just eat pizza and sing Texas Fight). Starts at 6 p.m. on the East Mall.
- Find a Student Organization to your liking. There are a lot of them, each fun in its own unique way.
- Download and read "The Short Guide to Amplifying Your Academic Experience in the College of Natural Sciences," a brochure that describes many of the academic programs that the college has to offer.
- Explore everything. Because it's college and that's what you are supposed to do.
