CNS Summer Positions

CNS Summer Positions

College Readiness Mentor

NOTE: “Summer Hire Only” indicates that applications for these positions will be accepted in the Spring Semester only, for students to work during the summer.

The purpose of this position is to provide support to incoming CNS students in achieving their College Readiness requirement and to help acclimate them to the College and University.  Each mentor will be assigned a group of incoming CNS students to interact with via e-mail, telephone, Adobe Connect and Facebook to support, encourage, tutor and provide resource referrals to students to achieve the required scores on the ALEKS calculus and chemistry assessments.  Mentors will also attend some orientation events and work in the CNS Student Division a few hours a week assisting students via telephone and e-mail with ALEKS questions.

Some mentors will be assigned to assist with the Pre-Calculus Summer Boot Camp as a learning assistant, 7/19 – 8/22/12, and should be available an additional 6-8 hours per week.

Required Qualifications: 2.75 or higher UT-GPA and a “B” or better in UT Calculus and Chemistry.  Must be available to work 10 hours a week between May 16 and August 15, 2012.  Training meetings will be mandatory.

MCAT Review Undergraduate Learning Assistant

CNS will offer an MCAT Science Review course, NSC f309.  We are hiring Learning Assistants who will attend each class, MTWTHF 10 – 11:30am, and attend the discussion sections.

Required Qualifications: 3.0 or higher UT-GPA and a “B” or better in UT Calculus (M408C, & D or K, L & M; N & S); Biology (BIO 311C & D); and Chemistry (CH301, 302, 310M & N).  Prefer students who also have Physics
