UTeachStudents enrolled in UTeach earn both a science, math or computer science degree and secondary teacher certification. The program is nationally recognized for its success at training highly-qualified teachers and successfully placing them in schools around the country. UTeach is a unique partnership between the College of Natural Sciences and the College of Education, the College of Liberal Arts and the Austin Independent School District.

  • 88% of UTeach graduates enter the teaching profession

  • Award-winning master teachers work with students to preparing them to be teachers
  • Program works with 300 mentor teachers in local school districts.
  • Students have access to internships, scholarships, and to local school district fellowships
  • UTeach reimburses tuition costs for first two courses.
  • 27% of UTeach students are either Hispanic or African American.
  • UTeach offers a Masters program.

The UTeach Institute

The UTeach Institute is expanding and replicating the UTeach teacher preparation program at universities across the nation. The goal is to increase the quantity and quality of mathematics, science, and computer science teachers in America's schools. The institute has partnered nationally with the National Math and Science Initiative and also in Texas with the Texas High School Project to select universities who are eligible to receive replication grants.
