College of Natural Sciences Graduation Ceremony
The College holds commencement ceremonies in fall and spring for its bachelor's graduates.
Location: Frank C. Erwin, Jr. Special Events Center Date: Saturday, May 18, 2013
8:00 AM ceremony: Astronomy, Computer Science, Human Development and Family Sciences, Human Ecology, Interdisciplinary Science, Mathematics, Nutrition, Physics, and Textiles and Apparel.
12:00 Noon ceremony: Biochemistry, Biology, Chemistry, Clinical Laboratory Science/Medical Laboratory Science, Environmental Science, and Public Health.
No tickets are required. There is no limit to the number of family and friends you may invite to either ceremony.
Alert: New Security Procedures
Because of heightened security concerns after recent national events, additional safety procedures will be in place for all commencement ceremonies and all commencement venues.
Backpacks, tote bags or any bags larger than 12 inches in any dimension will not be allowed into the Erwin Center.
In addition, all other bags, including purses, camera cases and diaper bags will be searched by security officers before visitors are permitted to enter the Erwin Center.
We strongly urge all graduates and attendees not to bring bags to any of the ceremonies unless they are absolutely necessary. Those visitors bringing the smaller bags should expect delays in order to enter the venue and those with the prohibited larger bags will be turned away. Please plan accordingly. Do not bring any packages that cannot be opened or inspected.

Bachelor's Graduation Candidates
Approval of your graduation application consitutes approval to participate in the graduation ceremony. There is no need to apply to walk. Graduation candidates should arrive one hour prior to the start of the ceremony and enter at the lower-level Red River entrance.

Walker applicants approved to participate in the ceremony should arrive one hour prior to the start of the ceremony and enter at the lower-level Red River entrance. Walker applicants must apply to graduate during the following semester.

Required Regalia
Academic regalia is required for all ceremony participants. Bachelor's regalia may be purchased from the University Co-op. The tassel color for BA and BS graduates in the College of Natural Sciences is gold/yellow. Bachelor's regalia must be ordered by the published deadline.

Parking
Parking is available in university parking lots and parking garages near the Erwin Center. Please also see the Accessibility Map of the Erwin Center Area.
Personal Items
Do not bring personal items such as purses or coats to the ceremony. There is no secure area in which to leave them. We recommend carrying cell phones and keys on wrist bands or in clothing with pockets.
Professional Photographs
A professional photographer will be present to photograph each graduation candidate as he or she walks across the stage to be congratulated. You will have the option of purchasing photographs. There is no obligation to do so.

Formal invitations to send to family and friends may be ordered from the University Co-op.
