Mallet Chemistry Library
The Mallet Chemistry Library, located in Welch Hall, serves the chemical reference and research needs for the students, faculty and staff of the Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry and the Department of Chemical Engineering. The library's collections total over 92,000 volumes covering all areas of chemistry, chemical engineering, biochemistry and food science. The strong historical journal collection includes over 1,000 titles as far back as 1789.

Life Science Library
A beautiful library located in the Main building (Tower), the Life Sciences Library holdings include more than 200,000 volumes in the fields of biochemistry, biology, botany, ecology, microbiology, pharmacy administration, medicinal chemistry, pharmaceutics, pharmacology, and zoology. For botany and zoology, the geographical emphasis is on the Western Hemisphere and on tropical and arid areas. Medical material is acquired selectively with an emphasis on general medicine and research materials. About sixty percent of the medical material at the university is located in the Life Science Library.

Marine Science Library
The Marine Science Library is located on the campus in Port Aransas, Texas. It supports the undergraduate and graduate programs of the Department of Marine Science and the research programs of the Marine Science Institute. The library is a primary source for marine-related information in the state and in the Gulf of Mexico.

Kuehne Physics Mathematics Astronomy Library
The Kuehne Physics Mathematics Astronomy Library (PMA) serves the physics, mathematics and astronomy information needs of the entire university community, as well as the research information needs of the departments.

Collections

Plant Resources Center
With over 1,000,000 specimens, the Plant Resources Center is the largest herbarium in the southwestern United States and ranks fifth among U.S. university herbaria and twelfth across the nation. It has the largest holdings of Texas plants in the world and an especially strong representation of Mexico and northern Central America.

Culture Collection of Algae
The collection includes approximately 3,000 different strains of living algae, representing most major algal taxa. The primary function of collection, named UTEX, is to provide algal cultures to a user community. Cultures in the collection are used for research, teaching, biotechnology development, and various other projects throughout the world.

Texas Natural Science Center
The Texas Natural Science Center is home to a collection of 5.7 million specimens in the disciplines of paleontology, geology, biology, herpetology, ichthyology and entomology. The center maintains close working relationships within each of these fields of study at The University of Texas at Austin. Research laboratories and collections are located at the Pickle Research Campus and include the Vertebrate Paleontology Laboratory (ranked 9th in the nation), Non-vertebrate Paleontology Laboratory (6th largest collection in the U.S.), and Texas Natural History Collections.
